A short preface about King’s experience as his alter ego Richard Bachman. For many people, these novels are King’s best, so really looking forward to The Long Walk.

  1. Annie Wilkes Can’t believe you’re finally following my advice! I’m gonna read it again to comment 😀

  2. Romy Banzee «The Running Man», «Thinner»… such great books. I’d also love to get my hands on a copy of «Rage».

Love the way King starts introducing the main characters and we don’t even notice it.

  1. Annie Wilkes True, and also his love for Maine, always there 🙂

Ooh, first shots, 99 left…

Not sure about the famous phrases at the beginning of each chapter. I like some more than others.

McVries seems like a cool character.

The story about the Long Walk Stebbins witnessed was great. And boy, that Stebbins is a real freak.

  1. Robert Neville I really would have liked to know what the winner told the other contestant, but I guess it’s better this way, not knowing every bit of the story.

I usually hate dialogue but the conversations in this book are really interesting.

  1. Miguel Angel Banzee Totally agree

Scramm is also a nice character. Too bad he’s going to kick the bucket, I’m sure Garraty will win The Long Walk.

  1. Romy Banzee What about McVries and Barkovitch, there’s a pair I’d like to see head to head.

  2. Kitana Kahn Really? I wouldn’t be so sure, but please, let’s hope King didn’t make Stebbins win.

Ray’s conversations with Stebbins are the best. And poor Olson, he’s next probably.

0

Ugh, Olson’s death was hard to read with all those details.

0

Another good conversation about life and death, and the real purpose of the Long Walk.

  1. Annie Wilkes True, and making friends and how difficult it is to lose them.

Scramm is dying 🙁 There’s one character I’ll feel bad for. Not for Barkovitch who’s an idiot.

Up until now, very interesting, such an original premise.

Really, why would anyone participate in such a thing, even knowing about the big prize…

0

What the…

  1. Robert Neville Haha, I know, but it’s understandable right? 😛

What?! Huge confession! Is that really true or is Stebbins bluffing?

  1. Fred Edison I don’t think he’s lying but come on… I would have preferred the old Stebbins, the one we didn’t know much about. Just a shadow in the back…

I cried.

  1. Fred Edison Oh man, just so sad. And even without looking, the fact that he had to hear the shots.

Nooo, I can’t believe McVries is dead.

  1. Romy Banzee He just sat down. So sad.

Loved the whole book. Definitely one of King’s best.

Aaand he’s gone mad.

  1. Fred Edison I know, I just hope Death didn’t get him, and he just kept running. Loved the ending.

  2. Annie Wilkes Haha, it’s a metaphor. A really good one, imho.
